How to create captioned media for playback in TrialPad
To create captioned media for playback in TrialPad:
Once you have a synchronized transcript, you can prepare your media using either the Windows or Mac version of Synchronizer. Detailed instructions are as follows:
For WINDOWS Synchronizer:
– Install the Synchronizer, our playback application. You can download it here: http://slp.synchronvideo.com/Setup_Synchronizer.exe
– Load the Synchron (.sync) transcript into the Synchronizer as follows:
– ‘File > Open’ from within the Synchronizer and then browse to the .sync file location
– Create the desired clips in the Synchronizer as follows:
– Select the text for the desired clip range
– Right-click on the text and select ‘Add selection to Clip List’
– Set the Region Name to the desired name for this clip
– Test clip playback (and adjust/trim the endpoints as necessary) via the Clip List Manager (button right below the menus)
– Open the Clip Export window (File > Export Clips)
– Set Subtitle Mode to ‘Open / Burned-In’
– Set Media output format to ‘MPEG-4’
– Set the output folder to wherever you want the clip files to end up
– Click ‘Export’
At this point it will start processing for a minute or more, depending on the number of clips and the size of the original media files. Afterwards, the clips will be created in the output directory you specified above. You can then upload these new MP4 files via DropBox and everything should work the way it normally does, except the new media files will include the spoken text as captions.
For MACINTOSH:
– Install the MacSynchronizer, our playback application. If you are already registered, you can download it here: http://slp.synchronvideo.com/MacSynchronizer.dmg (MAC)
– Load the Synchron (.sync) transcript into the Synchronizer
– Create the desired clips in the Synchronizer
– Test clip playback (and adjust/trim the endpoints as necessary)
– Combine clips into Presentations if desired
– Open the Export Clip/Presentation window
– Set Media output format to ‘MPEG-4’
– Set Subtitle Mode to ‘Open / Burned-In’
– Set the output folder to wherever you want the clip files to end up
– Click ‘Export’
